Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro hosted a panel at San Diego Comic-Con centered around the Energon Universe. Robert Kirkman (Void Rivals), Joshua Williamson (G.I. Joe), Conor Hughes (Void Rivals), and Sean Mackiewicz (Skybound SVP, publisher) attended the panel. They marked the third anniversary of the shared titles by revealing a new trailer, new covers, and character designs.

The Energon Universe is the collaboration between Skybound and Hasbro that has introduced a shared universe with the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises, and the new titles M.A.S.K. and Void Rivals.

They discussed the recent launch of M.A.S.K., the fourth book in the Energon Universe, from writer Dan Watters (Nightwing) and artist Pye Parr (New Gods). Audience members were given a M.A.S.K. wristband and saw new characters designs for Trakker’s son, Scott, and his protector, T-Bob, who will be introduced in an upcoming issue.

Void Rivals is starting a new chapter, following what happened in the Quintesson War. Kirkman, the writer and co-creator of the book, and series artist Conor Hughes talked about ROM joining the Sacred Ring. They showed off character designs for the bounty hunter Predacron and teased the next story arc that includes art by Frank Mazzoli.

G.I. Joe is starting its biggest arc with an extra-sized issue 25 that arrives in August 2026. Williamson discussed important moments that began the G.I. Joe vs. Night Force conflict. New Cobra character Major Medusa was shown for the first time, including her character design, hints at her role, and her appearance on the cover of G.I. Joe #26.

Kirkman talked about how several Transformers characters have gone through big changes recently, taking them in new and unexpected directions. They showed the cover of Transformers #36 with Superion and his newly added Autobot Thundercracker arm. Kirkman and Mackiewicz teased the future of Transformers, Elita Prime’s part in the war, and announced that Karl Kerschl will be a guest artist on issue 37.
