Amazing Spider-Man #1000 Preview of Anniversary Stories
In September 2026, the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will celebrate a major milestone with the 1,000th issue of Amazing Spider-Man. Since Peter Parker was introduced by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1963, he has become one of Marvel’s most popular characters. The story of a young man trying to make his way as a superhero while also attempting to have some kind of normal life engaged readers by focusing on the personal side of heroes as well as their exploits against villains.
Now that Spidey is heading for the landmark Amazing Spider-Man #1000, Marvel is providing a first look at the anniversary stories and talent who will provide them. “Ravaged,” the central story by Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz, will introduce Spider-Man’s newest villain, Ravage.

“Now I Can Rest” by Dan Slott and Marcos Martin returns to the night of Uncle Ben’s death and the pivotal moment in Peter Parker’s life. Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen’s “The Gesture” presents a team-up between Spider-Man and the Avengers versus some of Spidey’s worst enemies. “Tears of the Spider-Queen” by Frank Miller and Peach Momoko puts Spider-Man up against the Hand.
In “Still Standing,” an older Peter Parker reflects on his life and has one more adventure, in the story by Noah Hawley and Patrick Gleason. J.M. DeMatteis and Humberto Ramos’ “Requiem for a Goblin” revisits the events that followed Harry Osborn’s death. Larry Lieber and Giuseppe Camuncoli present a Western style Spider-Man story in “Of Webs and Six-Guns.”
“Writing Amazing Spider-Man #1000 has stirred up a lot of emotions for me, but gratitude is chief among them,” Kelly said. “It’s a true honor to have the opportunity to contribute to Spidey’s legacy with a huge milestone like this. And special bonus – we get to introduce a new villain?! Amazing. Ravage is layered and complex and mysterious, and I can’t wait to unleash him on the readers with this monumental issue!”
Amazing Spider-Man #1000 features main covers by Pepe Larraz, John Romita, Jr., and Paola Rivera, as well as several variant covers. It will arrive in comic shops on September 16.
