Dark Horse Comics has undergone changes in recent months. Layoffs were made in their IT department and warehouse operations, and the publisher has started working with the newly formed union, Dark Horse Workers United. In a statement, Dark Horse acknowledged the hard work of their employees and pressure they put on their staff.

Now, Dark Horse has announced promotions and a new leadership structure. The company will be led by department leaders Tim Wiesch as Head of Publishing and Business Development, Vanessa Todd-Holmes as Head of Publishing Operations, and Melissa Teeman as Head of Finance and Administration.

Wiesch will oversee editorial, licensing, entertainment, and games, plus product and direct to consumer operations. For the past five years, he has been Dark Horse’s Vice President of Licensing, and before that he worked in their sales and international licensing departments. He also worked in licensing at Mondo and the Alamo Draft House Cinemas.

Todd-Holmes will oversee the design, production, sales, and marketing teams. She has 20 years of experience in book publishing, including over a decade as Dark Horse Vice President of Design and Production. Before that, she worked with Phaidon Press in London and New York.

Teeman will lead Dark Horse’s financial strategy and oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and administrative operations. She joined Dark Horse as Vice President of Finance, and “has played a key role in strengthening the company’s financial planning processes and guiding budget strategy through a period of significant industry evolution,” according to Dark Horse.

The publisher has also internally promoted employees into new senior roles. Mark Bernardi is now Vice President of Publishing Sales, Daniel Chabon has been promoted to Executive Editor, and Samantha Garcia has been named Director of Marketing.

“I couldn’t be more excited about the future our team is building at Dark Horse right now,” Wiesch said. “I’ve been lucky enough to know a staggering amount of people here for 20 years and my entire world view on the industry was shaped with their influence. It’s truly an honor to be taking these next steps at the company that literally inspired me to work in comics to begin with.”

Dark Horse has also added Kevin Callahan to their team as the new Vice President of Marketing.

“Callahan’s role as Vice President of Marketing, in addition to Bernardi’s promotion to Vice President of Publishing Sales, reinforces a move towards better focus in the marketing, advertising, and sales strategies within Dark Horse Media that began with the hiring of Stuart Schreck as Director of Sales in late 2025,” Dark Horse wrote in their press release. “The reinforcement of support for direct market business, in addition to large-scale, global retailers and the impact they have on publishing, products, and entertainment, is a key focus for Dark Horse moving forward, reflected in the internal promotions and acquisition of key industry talent.”
