The Muppets Join Marvel Heroes in Crossover Special
The Muppet gang is going on adventures with the heroes of Marvel comics in The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe #1. The one-shot is being released in September 2026, in time for the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show.
The special book contains stories by Chip Zdarsky, Pete Woods, Ashley Allen, Paco Medina, MacKenzie Cadenhead, Kyle Starks, David Baldeon, Mike Henderson, and others. The one-shot follows the successful Muppets homage variant covers that appeared in 2025 with new Muppet variants covers.

The crossover tales start when Mojo kidnaps Rowlf the Dog in a story by Zdarsky and Woods. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and Fozzie Bear will be joined by Spider-Man, Black Panther, Wolverine, Emma Frost, and others on an adventure to save the day.
Bruce Banner and Hank Pym visit Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker at the Muppet Labs to do experiments with gamma rays and Pym particles in a story by Starks and Henderson.
In Allen and Medina’s story, Clea is afflicted by a mystical virus that Doctor Strange can’t cure, so he gets help from none other than the Swedish Chef.
Captain Link Hogthrob, First Mate Piggy, and Dr. Julius Strangepork crash into Rocket Raccoon and Groot in a space-set story by Cadenhead and Baldeon.
The one-shot will contain even more stories presented by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Adam F. Goldberg, E.J. Su, and Áthila Fabbio.
“With the great power of two iconic properties comes great responsibility. I promise to not let down Kermit, Fozzie, and Animal the way Spider-Man let down his Uncle Ben,” Zdarsky said. “It’s impossible to overstate how excited I write for Miss Piggy, who I consider to be one of the greatest icons of the last hundred years, a character who speaks to every generation. I also got to write Deadpool,” he continued. “And Pete Woods is turning in the most stunning, detailed and joyous pages. Seeing his take on these characters interacting is a real delight.”
“It has been exciting for The Muppets Studio to collaborate with Marvel Comics in a new and unique way to bring the personality, humor and mayhem of The Muppets into the Marvel Universe and vice versa,” The Muppets Studio Vice President Leigh Slaughter said. “To do this during the 50th anniversary year of The Muppet Show makes this project even more meaningful.”
Covers are provided by Nick Bradshaw, Humberto Ramos, Ron Lim, Matteo Lolli’s special Muppet Treasure Island 30th anniversary cover, and a logo mashup variant.
