The world of the Vampire Survivors shoot’em up video game is expanding with a comic book series. Titan Comics and game developer poncle are collaborating on the project for a four-issue comic. The series begins in September 2026 and then a graphic novel collection is scheduled for release in March 2027.

Vampire Survivors debuted in 2021, set in the Italian countryside where the evil, powerful Bisconte Draculó has summoned monsters to create chaos across the land. The Belpaese family and other survivors are the only ones willing to fight Draculó and his horrifying creatures. The game won the Best Game and Best Game Design at the 2023 BAFTAs and Best Evolving Game in 2025.

The comic is written by David Hazan (co-creator of the medieval noir comic, Nottingham) and illustrated by Jimmy Kucaj (Dread the Halls). Survivors from the game will travel through cursed realms, encounter horrible creatures, and investigate strange mysteries. On this journey, they will fight monsters in a library, a dairy plant, and a forest on their way to learning secrets that they weren’t supposed to uncover.

“It’s been incredibly fun to bring Vampire Survivors’ iconically eclectic cast of characters to life in a way we’ve never seen them before,” Hazan said. “This game has such an enthusiastic fanbase, and Jimmy’s art is so expressive and dynamic that I can only hope that my hours spent researching ridiculous things for our Survivors to say in Italian pays off!”

“I’m so excited and honored to get to be such a big part of bringing the Vampire Survivors world to life in the pages of our comic series. I spent my childhood playing retro video games imagining what the pixels on the CRT screen would look like in full detail, so when I was told I’d be the one drawing the series I knew I’d get to do exactly that,” Kucaj said. “It’s an incredible responsibility that I don’t take lightly both as a huge fan of the Vampire Survivors game but also the games that inspired the series. It’s such a privilege getting to put my own energy into these already classic feeling characters.”

This is the latest in a string of comics published by Titan that are based on video games. Others include Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Little Nightmares, RuneScape, and Dead by Daylight.

“I’m thrilled to help bring this fantastic video game to comics! David Hazan and Jimmy Kucaj have done a great job fleshing out this beloved world,” series editor Ibraheem Kazi said. “We really wanted to give back to the fans. Especially because this is a chance to see characters that the fans love interact and bounce off each other. It’s full of highs and lows, and humor and laughs. I hope you all enjoy this series as much as I enjoyed working on it!”

Vampire Survivors #1 will be in comic book stores on September 9.
