Young Hellboy: Thrilling Sky Adventures #1 is a reminder that not every comic needs world-ending stakes to be entertaining. Written by Mike Mignola and Tom Sniegoski, this issue delivers a fun pulp adventure centered on Scarlett Santiago, the Sky Devil, as she joins forces with the mysterious Ghost Leopard for a dangerous mission filled with monsters, mystery, and airborne action. 

The real charm comes from the framing device. The story is presented as a comic that Young Hellboy is reading to his dog Mac during a quiet day at the B.P.R.D. It's a simple concept, but it perfectly captures the joy of getting lost in a great adventure comic. 

Artist Craig Rousseau brings plenty of energy to the action while giving the book a classic pulp feel. Combined with colors from Chris O'Halloran and lettering by Clem Robins, the comic feels lively from start to finish. 

What I enjoyed most is how accessible it is. Longtime Hellboy readers will appreciate the connections to the larger universe, while new readers can jump in without missing a beat.
