Sought after Golden to Bronze Age first appearances and origin stories were offered in Heritage’s Key Comics Showcase Auction. The auction closed on May 28, 2026, with a total of $723,506 in sales.

Results were led by Wolverine’s first full appearance in The Incredible Hulk #181 CGC 9.8 that hammered for $67,100. The book follows his cameo appearance in the previous issue and is listed as the second most valuable Bronze Age book in The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #55.

Golden Age Batman books included Detective Comics #31 CGC Apparent 2.5 that went for $40,260. An important early key, the book contains the introduction of the Batplane, the Batarang, Julie Madison, and the Monk (Batman’s first superpowered adversary), and it has a cover by Bob Kane.

The top Silver Age sale was $26,840 for The Incredible Hulk #1 CGC 5.5 with the origin and first appearance of the Hulk in his original gray-skinned form. Additionally, the book introduces Rick Jones, Betty Ross, and General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, with a cover by Jack Kirby.

Spider-Man’s debut and origin story in Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 3.0 brought $23,180. The major key also introduces Aunt May and Uncle Ben, the story was written by Stan Lee, Steve Ditko provided the art, and Jack Kirby created the cover. It is listed as the most valuable Silver Age key in The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #55.

The top five sales concluded with Detective Comics #33 CGC Apparent 6.5 that cleared $20,740. The Golden Age issue features Batman’s origin story and is one of the earliest covers showcasing the Dark Knight.
