The partnership between Oni Press and William M. Gaines Agent, Inc. has produced many EC horror comics, an outlaw tale, and twisted romance. Now they are venturing into battle with the over-sized special, Shellshock #1. This is the first EC war comic in decades and will be in stores in August 2026.

Shellshock #1 stories are written by Julio Anta (This Land Is Our Land: A Blue Beetle Story), John Arcudi (B.P.R.D.), Benito Cereno (Invincible Presents: Atom Eve), and Michael W. Conrad (Double Walker). Artists on the project are Tom Fowler (EC’s Catacomb of Torment), David Lapham (Stray Bullets), Albert Monteys (Slaughterhouse-Five: The Graphic Novel), and Shawn Martinbrough (Thief of Thieves).

The 56-page special will also contain another EC classic story that has been remastered and restored.

“Take a journey into the deepest depths of the heart of darkness, as Shellshock showcases the most skin-crawling monster of all – humankind’s capacity for war and bloodshed,” Senior Editor Allyson Gronowitz said.

Shellshock #1 comes with cover A by Lee Bermejo (Joker), cover B by Tyler Crook (Out of Alcatraz), cover C by Tom Fowler (MAD Magazine), EC variant (1:10) cover by Jay Stephens (Dwellings), archive edition cover (1:50) by Rian Hughes (Epitaphs from the Abyss), a black and white artist edition variant (1:20) by Fowler, and a black sketch cover.

Shellshock #1 is scheduled for release on August 19.
