ComicConnect Adds Action #1 Rocket Copy to Event Auction 66
ComicConnect is in the midst of their Spring Mega Monthly Auction, while also presenting first looks at the upcoming Event Auction 66, which now features the Action Comics #1 CGC 6.0 Rocket Copy.
Featuring the introduction of Superman, Action Comics #1 is considered the most important comic ever published and tops Overstreet’s list of most valuable comic books. The famous Rocket Copy has set sales records and achieved increasingly higher prices, which has included the $3.55 million private sale via ComicConnect in 2023.
This copy of the 1938 comic has vivid colors on the cover, and is particularly noted for the distinctive red rocket stamp applied to the cover by the book’s original owner. At this time, there are only seven copies of Action Comics #1 graded higher out of the 86 copies in the CGC Census.
Of course, Action Comics #1 has also been an important part of ComicConnect’s history. The auction house has spent decades setting new highs for the title’s past sales, notably the first $1 million sale of Action Comics #1 in 2010, and the private sale of Action Comics #1 CGC 9.0 for $15 million, which they reported in January 2026.

More Golden Age milestones join the Man of Steel’s debut in Event Auction 66, such as Joker and Catwoman debuting in Batman #1 and Robin bounding into pop culture in Detective Comics #38. That’s along with the first appearance of Wonder Woman in All Star Comics #8 and the pioneering solo debut of Wonder Woman #1.
Key Marvel titles from the Silver Age include Fantastic Four #1 9.0, Amazing Spider-Man #1 and Daredevil #1 9.6, plus copies of Amazing Fantasy #15 and the Vision’s first appearance in Avengers #57 9.8.
Neal Adams ushers in DC’s Bronze Age with Man-Bat in Detective Comics #400 9.8, and Bronze Age keys like Incredible Hulk #181 9.6 and Giant-Size X-Men #1 9.6. Then it’s on to the Modern Age with 1990’s Spider-Man #1 CGC 10 Signature Series Todd McFarlane.
Even more will be announced as Event Auction 66 gets closer to opening on Monday, June 1.
Event Auction 66 is taking consignments through Monday, May 18. Original art consignors can reach out to Micah Spivak at micahs@metropoliscomics.com; sellers can also contact Peter Barbella at peterb@metropoliscomics.com, or call (212) 260-4147 and toll free at (888) 779-7377.
