Historical Fiction Meets Noir Thriller in Havana Split Vol. 1
In the historical crime story Havana Split Vol. 1, a woman tries to save her father during the tumultuous period in late 1950s Cuba. Written by Frédéric Brrémaud (Love) with art by Vic Macioci (Gravity Level) and translated by Montana Kane, the Mad Cave Studios title will go on sale in August 2026.
The 176-page graphic novel is set at a point when unemployment was rising, political persecution was a growing issue, and a change in power was about to take place. Havana Split takes that backdrop of political revolution, espionage, mistrust, gang fights, and overall turmoil, and sets it inside a noir style thriller.

“Cuba, 1958. Lily is reunited with her father, the owner of a seedy detective agency in Havana. Well, reunited… Rather, she catches a glimpse of him. Her father, a gambling addict, has been kidnapped along with his secretary by Alfonso, a mafioso and sports betting boss,” according to the synopsis.
“The deal is simple: her father in exchange for a starlet, a failed film actress, but above all, the mistress of Alfonso’s great rival. Simple, easy, fácil, especially since Lily can count on the help of John, an ex-CIA agent, and José, a handyman in his spare time and a full time coward. And all this in the middle of the revolución!” the description continues.
Havana Split Vol. 1 arrives in comic shops on August 18.
