DC Announces Contest to Help Create New Batman Villain
DC Comics is looking to add a new villain to Batman’s roster of baddies, and they want a fan to help them design the character. The publisher is hosting the Building Bad Sweepstakes in which one winner will help create a Batman villain who could become part of the publisher’s official canon.
The character will be introduced in Detective Comics #1113, will make an appearance in Batman #14, and will appear in the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight video game as post-launch downloadable content. The comics and the video game are both scheduled for release in September 2026.

The sweepstakes is open now through May 31 for fans ages 13 and older, who are located in the US, Canada, and the UK. This is the first time that DC Comics and Warner Bros. Games have collaborated for a contest that gives fans a role in creating a new character for publishing and games.
The grand prize winner will work with DC to develop character traits, and they will help name the character. The winner will see the character included in a DC GO! webcomic planned for Batman Day (September 19) as well as in DC’s main comic line and the LEGO video game.
Batman and comic book fans can sign up for the Building Bad Sweepstakes and view the contest rules on DC’s website.
