Evil Ernie is being unleashed on the world once again. Dynamite Entertainment and Coffin Comics have worked together on a three-volume set that collects the entire Evil Ernie run from Chaos! Comics. The Evil Ernie Classic Omnibus Editions are now seeking backers on Kickstarter.

When Chaos! Comics was introduced in 1993 the publisher established its own niche by mixing superhero elements with horror and a heavy metal aesthetic. It started by building on Evil Ernie, who had been introduced by Brian Pulido and Steven Hughes in 1991, then expanded with stories that featured dark humor and rebellion.

The Evil Ernie Omnibus Set brings the Evil One back to print for the first time in over 20 years. The 9” x 12” oversized editions feature every solo Evil Ernie and Smiley: The Psychotic Button story that was published from ’91 to 2002. The restored comics are part of a nearly 1,500 page set that also includes behind the scenes content and new musings from Pulido.

The first volume contains the debut miniseries published by Eternity Comics and later subtitled Youth Gone Wild, along with The Resurrection, Revenge, Straight to Hell, the zero issue, and a Greg Capullo cover. The second book presents Destroyer, Evil Ernie #1/2, and the ongoing series with memorable arcs like “Vampire Vengeance,” “Fear Itself,” “Christmas Evil,” and “Trauma.” The third volume features Depraved, War of the Dead, Pieces of Me, Returns, Relentless, Alien Evil, crossover specials facing off against superheroes and movie monsters, a “what if” style book, and all five Smiley specials.

The set is available in three editions with unique cover art on every volume. The main hardcover set comes with black trim accents; there’s a limited edition signed by Pulido; and a limited edition Super Deluxe set signed with page gilding, a ribbon bookmark, and spot laminated covers.

The main editions individual volumes sell for $79 (each), the signed editions are $125 (each), and the Super Deluxe sets are $175 (each). Collectors can order the three-volume set for $237, the signed set for $375, and the deluxe set is $597.

Dynamite and Coffin Comics are offering several other awards, starting with the Evil Ernie: Youth Gone Wild #1 limited edition reprint for $15. There are challenge coins, posters, shirts, signed copies of Youth Gone Wild, and patches.

The campaign has been a resounding success and was funded in 66 seconds, according to the Kickstarter page. As of press time, the campaign is already up to $239,606 in pledges and still has nearly a month until it ends on June 3, 2026.
