Alex Ross Variant Covers Featuring Marvel Dimensions Art
Before Alex Ross’ Marvel Dimensions graphic novel debuts in September 2026, Marvel is leading up to the book’s release with a line of variant covers on Marvel titles. The line begins on June 3 and runs through mid-August.
Written and illustrated by Ross, Marvel Dimensions presents the origins of Marvel heroes and early stories. “But as the story moves forward, the tone begins to shift. The voice behind the narration is not who the readers expect and carries a motive that slowly pushes the narrative somewhere darker and far more unpredictable,” the Abrams ComicArts description reads.
The graphic novel comes from Marvel and Abrams ComicArts as a part of their Marvel Arts line. Marvel Dimensions will be in comic shops on September 1.
The Marvel Dimensions variant cover line will present Marvel heroes in Ross’ beautifully detailed, richly colored fine art style. It includes group shots of the Fantastic Four, Avengers, and X-Men and character portraits of Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and others.
“I’m really excited for people to check out Marvel Dimensions,” Ross said. “These variant covers are just a small look at the ambition I put into the entire project.”
The first wave of Marvel Dimensions variant covers starts on June 3 with Avengers: Armageddon #1, Doctor Strange #7, and Fantastic Four #12.
The June 10 variants are on Mortal Thor #11 and X-Men #31.
The books out on June 17 are Amazing Spider-Man #31 and X-Men United #4.
The variants releasing on June 24 are Captain America #12 and Infernal Hulk #8.
The next batch of Marvel Dimensions variants out on July 1 include Amazing Spider-Man #32, Fantastic Four #13, and Iron Man #7.
Variants out on July 8 are Avengers: Armageddon #2, Captain America #13, Civil War: Unmasked #3, and Wolverine #23.
Uncanny X-Men #32 is the only Marvel Dimensions variant releasing on July 15.
Daredevil #5 wraps up the Ross variant program on August 12.
