Frank Miller to Illustrate First TMNT Cover on Issue 300
IDW Publishing’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ongoing series is approaching its 300th issue. In celebration of the milestone, they have announced that Frank Miller will draw a TMNT cover for the first time in the title’s over 40-year history.
“As a lifelong Turtles fan, it’s awesome to be able to celebrate the landmark 300th issue of TMNT and we’re going all-out to celebrate,” IDW’s Director of Sales Ryan Balkam said. “From a blind bag with an amazing artist lineup to Frank Miller’s first-ever TMNT drawing and a never before seen piece by [creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird], TMNT #300 will be the ultimate reading and collecting experience for TMNT fans this year. The whole team here at IDW, along with our partners at Paramount, have put our passion for this property on full display. TMNT #300 is a book made by fans for fans new and old.”
This issue will start “The City That Never Dies” storyline written by Gene Luen Yang and illustrated by Freddie E. Williams II. Splinter and Tang Shen, the mother of the Turtles, have come back to life through some kind of magic – and they aren’t the only ones who are back from the dead.
It also features a back-up story by Eastman and writer Tom Waltz with a group of TMNT artists that takes the time-traveler Renet through the Turtles’ history to revisit some familiar faces.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #300 comes with covers by Eastman and Laird, Miller, Williams, J. Scott Campbell, Michael Dooney, Ito, Juan Ferreyra, Stan Sakai, Giuseppe Camuncoli, and Mateus Santolouco. In addition to Miller’s cover colored by Alex Sinclair, there is also a 1:300 black and white variant. Eastman and Laird’s cover is colored by Fahriza Kamaputra and comes with multicolored masks or red masks, and a black and white variant is also available.
TMNT #300 will be in comic shops on July 22, 2026.
