A young superhero tries to make his mark and find his place in the world in The Interns. The coming of age superhero prose novel is written by comics writer and former Marvel editor Roland Mann.

The Interns tells the story of 17-year-old Caleb Randolph, who has just graduated from the superhero academy trained to become a top-tier superhero – cape, fame, city lights, the whole package. But when internship assignments are announced, Caleb doesn’t get a big, glorious city like New York or Los Angeles. He gets Oxford, Mississippi. Forced to operate under the identity of a small town school mascot, Caleb must navigate small town life, awkward encounters, and unexpected dangers while discovering what being a hero truly means,” per the synopsis.

Mann is a writer, professor, and former Marvel editor known for his comic series, Cat & Mouse. His writing credits include Krey, Planet of the Apes: Blood of the Apes, and Miss Fury, among other titles. He edited the Protectors and Ultraverse titles at Malibu Comics and Marvel, and he runs the indie publisher Silverline Comics.

“Most folks here will know me from my comic work,” Mann said. “But I’ve been writing prose for just about as long as I’ve been writing comics. I just have a tendency to focus more on my comic writing because I love the collaborative nature of it. But I’ll admit I’ve had a blast writing The Interns, and I think any who have enjoyed my comic work will enjoy this novel.”

The Interns is a 249-page YA book and is now available for purchase.
