Lady Mechanika to Return in The Mechanical Menagerie
Creator Joe Benitez is bringing back Lady Mechanika for a steampunk mystery in Lady Mechanika: The Mechanical Menagerie. The four-issue miniseries will be written by Madeline Holly-Rosing (Boston Metaphysical Society) and illustrated by Benitez and Martin Montiel. The Image Comics series begins in May 2026.
“When Lewis, Fred, and Allie stumble upon an abandoned amusement park, their curiosity awakens something that should have remained lost to time. As strange mechanical threats emerge from the shadows, Lady Mechanika teams up with Inspector Singh to investigate the whereabouts of the sinister Mistress Grimm and her elusive Reapers – before the past claims even more victims,” according to the synopsis.
Image’s press release described the gothic steampunk action-adventure story as an entry point for new readers and one for longtime fans.
“I had a lot of fun returning to the interiors and immersing myself in the characters again,” Benitez said. “Some interesting developments unfold in this story, so you don’t want to miss it!”
Lady Mechanika: The Mechanical Menagerie #1 cover A is by Benitez and Sabine Rich; cover B is by Benitez, Montiel, and Rich; and cover C is a 1:10 incentive by Benitez and Montiel. The first issue will be in stores on May 6.
