The Universal Monsters: Creature from the Black Lagoon Lives! limited series from 2024 is back with black and white editions of the first two issues. The remastered releases come from Skybound Entertainment in partnership with Universal Products & Experiences.

The four-issue comic series was written by Dan Watters (Batman: Dark Patterns) and Ram V (The Many Deaths of Laila Starr) with art by Matthew Roberts (Manifest Destiny). It begins years after Universal’s 1954 horror movie when journalist Kate Marsden is trying to find an infamous serial killer hiding in the Amazon. As she closes in on finding the killer, Kate encounters the Creature, but doesn’t know if he is an ally or an enemy. The book introduces new characters Kate Marsden and serial killer Darwin Collier, and also features film character Dr. Edwin Thompson.

“After the massive success of our Dracula Black & White Special, we’re thrilled to return to the Black Lagoon!” Skybound Editorial Director Alex Antone said. “Dan Watters and Ram V delivered an incredible crime story that fans never saw coming, and Matthew Roberts’ stunning art may look even better in black & white.”

Universal Monsters: Creature From the Black Lagoon Lives! Black & White Special #1 will be available with a cover A by Matthew Roberts and cover B by Mark Chiarello. The second issue features a cover A by Roberts and cover B by Abigail Larson.

Creature From the Black Lagoon Lives! is part of the Universal Monsters comic line from Skybound and Universal. It has included Universal Monsters: Dracula by James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds, Frankenstein by Michael Walsh, The Mummy by Faith Erin Hick, and The Invisible Man by James Tynion IV and DANI. The next title in the line will be Universal Monsters: Phantom of the Opera by Tyler Boss and Martin Simmonds.
