Presidential history meets comics and pop culture in the upcoming event, Cloaked Crusader: Lecture and Wine Tasting at the Fraunces Tavern Museum in New York City. The program centered around George Washington’s appearances in pop culture, featuring colonial style mulled wine, is part of the museum’s Liberty 250 Program. It will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Author Renee Witterstaetter will discuss her book Cloaked Crusader: George Washington in Comics and Pop Culture. She will lead a conversation about Washington’s appearances in pop culture, ranging from tavern signs to comics to movies and more.

Before the presentation, there will be a wine tasting courtesy of Brotherhood Winery from Washingtonville, New York. The evening will also include an appearance by artist Edward Murr who will do art caricatures.

The event is scheduled to run from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM; the lecture will be in-person and available via Zoom. The Fraunces Tavern Museum is located at 54 Pearl Street, 2nd floor, in New York, NY.
