The kids of Hawkins, Indiana are back for the animated prequel, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85. Netflix released a teaser trailer for the series, which is set after the events of Stranger Things season two.

The teaser begins with a wintery establishing shot of the Wheeler house and a photograph of Mike and Eleven at the middle school dance. When the gang go to pick up Eleven at the cabin, Hopper delivers the typical dad threat to Mike. There’s a sweet moment between Lucas and Max when he shares his gloves with her and the kids get excited to start a new Dungeons & Dragons campaign during a big snowstorm.

When the Upside Down invades Hawkins once again their winter fun is put on hold. The kids start to investigate the new threat, noting that it appears to be mutating – which is proved positive when vines turn into a Halloween worthy monster. The vines attack Dustin and Steve in the latter’s car, Will and Mike are confronted by a creature at the school, and more shots of threats follow in quick succession. The teaser ends with Steve being a charming dolt while fixing his signature hair.

The series comes from showrunner Eric Robles (The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy) with Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer serving as executive producers.

It features the voices of Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Luca Diaz as Mike, Benjamin Plessala as Will, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Elisha Williams as Lucas, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Brett Gipson as Jim Hopper, and Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington. Janeane Garofalo, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Odessa A’zion are also voicing characters in the show.

Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 premieres on Netflix on April 23, 2026.
