The new auctions that began Tuesday, September 30, 2014 feature The World of Movie Posters with 850 posters from 32 different countries. All of the Tuesday items can be viewed at eMoviePoster.com.
Russian posters include Battle Beyond the Sun measuring 25” by 40” for the 1962 Nebo Zovyot, Russian sci-fi, with great art of the rocket another for this film by Zovyot measuring 19” by 27” with Vasiljev art of the cosmonaut. There’s also a poster of Kosmicheskiy Splav measuring 25” by 41” with Khomov artwork of the red rocket and a Chyornomu Moryu Russian poster measuring 29” by 40” from 1957 starring Izolda Izvitskaya featuring the art by Rudin.
French posters include 8 1/2 measuring 23” by 32” from 1963 by Federico Fellini, Marcello Mastroianni, and Claudia Cardinale, a DC Comics Batman poster 15” by 21” from 1967, with great artwork of Adam West by Boris Grinsson, and a Stalker poster measuring 15” by 21” from 1981 of Tarkovsky’s Ctankep Russian sci-fi film with art by Jean-Michel Folon. There’s a Hustler poster measuring 15” by 21” with different art of Paul Newman and Piper Laurie by Grinsson, a Luc Besson’s La Femme Nikita poster from 1990 measuring 15” by 21” with art of Anne Parillaud in an alley, and a Mr. Hulot’s Holiday R70s poster of Jacques Tati’s film Les vacances de Monsieur Hulot.
Two Japanese Alien posters for Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi monster classic, one with a different image of the cast and one featuring the classic hatching egg image. There’s also a Japanese teaser poster for the 1986 sequel Aliens featuring a different image of Sigourney Weaver, Carrie Henn, and the monster and a Jaws 2 1978 poster of the classic with artwork image of the man eating shark’s fin in red water at sunset.
Danish offerings featured in the auction include a poster for Otto Preminger’s Exodus from 1961 by Saul Bass, highlighting great artwork of arms reaching for a rifle and a She Devils of the SS 1975 Carl Mohner poster with art of a nude Nazi lady. There’s also a Dirty Outlaws poster of Franco Rossetti’s El Desperado, the 1969 spaghetti western with Wenzel art, a poster of Pawnee with 1960s cool art of Native American Indian Chief in headdress, and Ypotron—Final Countdown 1966 poster with artwork of women and a guy in weird glasses. As well as a poster for John Ford’s 1960 Sergeant Rutledge that surpasses greatness that won four Academy Awards and a Tales of Hoffman from 1951 of the Powell and Pressburger ballet with interesting artwork of Moira Shearer.
Spanish posters are highlighted by the 1977 George Lucas’ classic Star Wars with art by Chantrell, a 1958 7th Voyage of Sinbad starring Kerwin Mathews with visual effects by Ray Harryhausen, and a 1960 poster of Rossellini’s Il generale della rovere, General Della Rovere, starring Vittorio De Sica. A Jerry Lewis stock Spanish huge artwork image from 1960 of the zany comedian and Death in the Red Jaguar poster from 1970 with cool Saukoff art of Geroge Nader with gun and car are available.
Swedish posters feature stolpe Blade Runner poster for Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi movie starring Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer, R60s Dr. No poster for the Sean Connery James Bond film
The auction has a Czech Terminator poster measuring 11” by 16” from 1990 with different art of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the cyborg by Pecak and a Cleopatra poster from 1966 measuring 11” by 16” image of Elizabeth Taylor with the snake by Hilmar.
Swiss offerings include a 1980s Rashomon poster for Akira Kurosawa’s Japanese classic starring Toshiro Mifune and a Stalker poster for Andrej Tarkovsky’s Ctankep 1979 Russian sci-fi film.
Yugoslavian posters in the auction are a 1970 Bird with the Crystal Plumage poster measuring 20” by 28” with great horror artwork by Dario Argento and an Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein poster measuring 20” by 27” for the 1960s film featuring Bud and Lou being chased by legendary monsters.
Other offerings from are the world include a German Le Mans poster from 1971, with a close up of the race car driver Steven McQueen in a personalized uniform, a Girl Can’t Help It English double crown full length poster from 1956 with art by Jayne Mansfield, a Turkish 1966 Silencers poster with a different montage of Dean Martin and the Slaygirls, a set of four Italian Ten Commandments photobustas R70s DeMille, starring Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner, a Belgian 1963 Hercules Against the Mongols poster with Mark Forest as Hercules with sword and sandals, and a Polish Aliens poster measuring 27” by 38” of the James Cameron film featuring different art by Andrzej Pagowski.
Here are three surprising results from Tuesday’s auction closing: Invader From Mars the Italian 2p with an interesting different images sold for $1,172, a French Rio Grande 1p with a rare image of John Wayne sold for $1,075, and a Gilded Lily WC featuring the glamorous Claudette Colbert ended at $437.
