New York Comic Con was filled with panels, Q&As, contests, and oodles of other events for its thousands of attendees. One event that has become a favorite among guests was the 5th annual NYCC Charity Art Auction. Facilitated by Mike Negin and ReedPop, the charity auction raises money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It was held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center during New York Comic Con.

The charity auction raised an impressive $48,530, far surpassing the goal of $29,000. This marks the most they have ever raised at one of their charity auctions. Negin and ReedPop were hoping to reach a cumulative total of $200,000, and were able to surpass that easily. In the last four years ReedPop has raised $220,000.

CBCS President and Hero Initiative board member Steve Borock served as the auctioneer. Bill Cox, J.C. Vaughn, and Lacey Gilleran promoted the auction and Milton Montague developed and maintains the auction page. Those who helped to put the auction together onsite include Katie Enos, Chris Malico, Tara Jefferson, Andy Anderson, Hiram Vazquez, Alison Benowitz, Jesse Yu, Delmar Springer, Steph Lippitt, Anna DeVeau-Jalbert, Luke Crisalli, and Kristina Rogers.

Over 100 creators attending NYCC donated original art pieces for the auction. Mark Brooks worked diligently on a piece of art during the first few days of the con, which sold for $7,000 at the charity auction. Walt Simonson’s donation raised $6,000, Adi Granov’s donation raised $3,000, Jay Anacleto’s donation raised $2,000, David Petersen’s donation raised $1,000, and Kim Jung Gi’s donation raised $1,000.
