The page count on our newest book, The Overstreet Guide To Collecting Comic & Animation Art, has grown by 32, but the cover price hasn’t grown at all. Now weighing in at 160 full-color pages instead of the previously announced 128 pages, the cover price will remain $12.95. It can be found on Pages 321-322 in the August 2013 issue of Previews from Diamond Comic Distributors.

“We’d like to thank our advertisers for making the additional pages possible without a price increase,” said J.C. Vaughn, Vice-President of Publishing for Gemstone Publishing. “We’ve been very pleased by the response to this book.”

This volume is the second book in the new Overstreet “How To” series, and it offers interviews and features designed to make collecting original comic book art, original comic strip art, and animation art accessible to newcomers. But the book isn’t just for newcomers. It also offers new perspectives for seasoned collectors, as well.

With record prices established on a regular basis, the market for original comic art has never been more compelling. And now a resurgent animation art market is commanding attention as well. If those areas of collecting seem daunting, The Overstreet Guide To Collecting Comic & Animation Art is a great place to start.

The book features renowned painter Joe Jusko’s recreation of John Buscema’s cover to Silver Surfer #1.

Editor’s note: Two issues ago, we began running market reports and observations from contributors to our new book, The Overstreet Guide To Collecting Comic & Animation Art. We started with Comic Art Con founder Joe Veteri. Last week we shared thoughts from Metropolis Collectibles and ComicConnect.com Chief Operating Officer Vincent Zurzolo and former Comics Buyer’s Guide editor Maggie Thompson. This week we’ve added the perspectives of veteran comic art dealer Anthony Snyder and longtime collector Art Cloos.
