2025 Will Eisner Comic Industry Award Winners

The 37th Annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards were held on Friday, July 25, 2025, during San Diego Comic-Con. Named after comics luminary Will Eisner, awards were given in 32 categories for comics published in 2024.

Lunar New Year Love Story by Gene Luen Yang and LeUyen Pham (First Second/Macmillan) was the biggest winner, taking home the Best Graphic Album – New, Best Publication for Teens, and Best Writer for Yang. David Mazzucchelli’s Batman Year One Artist’s Edition (IDW) was the only other multi-winner with Best Archival Collection Project and Best Publication Design.

Awards were given to 24 different publishers. DC won 3 plus 2 shared, First Second and Fantagraphics each won 3 plus 1 shared, IDW won 3, and Dark Horse, DSTLRY, and Image each won 1 plus 2 shared.

The Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award went to Mad Cave Studios for the L.A. Strong charity comic, and the Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award went to artist Richard Blake. The 18th annual Bill Finger Award for Excellence in Comic Book Writing was given to Don Glut and Sheldon Mayer, and the Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award was awarded to Akira Comics of Madrid, Spain.

The Hall of Fame judges’ choices were Peter Arno, Gus Arriola, Steve Bissette, Wilhelm Busch, Lucy Shelton Caswell, Philippe Druillet, Phoebe Gloeckner, Richard “Grass” Green, Rea Irvin, Jack Kamen, Joe Maneely, Shigeru Mizuki, Bob Oksner, Bob Powell, Joe Sacco, Bill Schanes, Steve Schanes, Ira Schnapp, Phil Seuling. Frank Stack, and Angelo Torres. The voter selections were Kyle Baker, Eddie Campbell, Roz Chast, Dan Clowes, Junji Ito, Todd Klein, and John Romita Jr.

The 37th Annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards were held on Friday, July 25, 2025, during San Diego Comic-Con. Named after comics luminary Will Eisner, awards were given in 32 categories for comics published in 2024.

Lunar New Year Love Story by Gene Luen Yang and LeUyen Pham (First Second/Macmillan) was the biggest winner, taking home the Best Graphic Album – New, Best Publication for Teens, and Best Writer for Yang. David Mazzucchelli’s Batman Year One Artist’s Edition (IDW) was the only other multi-winner with Best Archival Collection Project and Best Publication Design.

Awards were given to 24 different publishers. DC won 3 plus 2 shared, First Second and Fantagraphics each won 3 plus 1 shared, IDW won 3, and Dark Horse, DSTLRY, and Image each won 1 plus 2 shared.
